Ok guys ..i know for a fact that the 4age 16v engine fits comfortably in Anglia.
With the 20v the head is the issue whereby its slightly larger and touching against the firewall.

I have a question

1. can a 16v head fit onto a 20v blacktop block ?

2. with regard to the blank offs for the distributor and water for the 20v ..can i do the same for the 16v ?

3. can i run 20v throthles on the 16v head ?

Let me know

Thanks
MELLIN

I had botht the 16v and 20V in my Datsun and the space between the head and firewall was exactly the same down to the millimeter. I used the mountings that came of the 16V to mount it and didn't change any holes or anything, just bolted it in. So maybe you just need to move the motor slightly forward.

Yes 16V can go on there, but you need to change rods as the blacktop rods are kak, as well as pistons, both of which aren't going to be exactly cheap.

You can do the same for the 16V with dizzy. Water is slightly different, only need to block the hole on the rear of the head, the water outlet is already in the front.

You can but will need manifold made or buy one.

All this is a lot of trouble just to gain nothing, as you'll have the same issue with the 16V if it's not properly positioned as I first stated.

Well, the 16V head is the same width and the ports are centered in the same place as on the 20V, so any manifold you might find ready made, will have the throttles in exactly the same place give or take a couple of mm. So, unless you have a custom manifold made up to position the complete throttle assembly forward, it's going to be a futile exercise, that I can guarantee you.

And if you have such a manifold made up, you might as well have it made up for the 20V...

EDIT: Also the 16V ports are located lower, meaning the throttles are going to sit much lower in the engine bay, which in turn means there will be even less space lower in the engine bay on most cars.

But as Crusty says, post pics, otherwise we are commenting and giving advice on something that we haven't seen and that is equally futile.

It sounds as if he has the fwd intake on the engine, maybe he should just get the rwd intake then his problem is sorted. Well, that's if that is the case. Like they said, post some pics.

Read this:
http://hotrodphotos.co.uk/Rack%20opinions.htm

I think you must have a look at the old Ford Fiesta rack. If the drag links are out of the way then you can place that engine anywhere you want to.

The Ford Fiesta IV front track is 1429 mm.
What is the Anglia front track width?
The total Anglia width is 1440 mm.

Hi Guys ..meant to do this a long time ago but time is becoming an issue .
Ok from the pics you can see the space constraints plus the stuff is just too close to the bulkhead.
i have purchased a mk escort suspension but the only way to get it to work is by having adjustable control arms
and adjustable camber plates ( eccentric top mounts).
1.Where can i get the 'adjustable thread and nut' to make my control arms adjustable once they cut and shortened.
2. the strut tops eccentric top mounts ...who has them locally ?

What are your thoughts guys ..?
PS. i don't want to cut the bulkhead .

Mellin

Why not move the motor slightly forward still? You only need like 15mm space for it to clear. I'd then fit a Golf radiator in the grill and move everything in there slightly forward to make a bit more space.

I can't move any more forward since the bellhousing sits against drag link si no space to go forward cause of suspension.

The last pic shows th problem ...hence the route to consider steering rack unless there is another way around this ?
