Damn. Dit lyk nice.
Nou gaan die kar hopelik weer verby 3000 rpm kan rev.
Nou moet ek net die crank angle sensor se bracket versterk sodat die ding nie vibreer nie.
PM asb vir my die prys en banking details.

I still wanted to apologize for now fitting o-rings to that dizzy plug, I ran out and didn't get the chance/forgot to go get before your brother had to come pick the stuff up. They are the same size as the ones in the 16V dizzy and only costs like 50c each or so from bearing and seal places.

It's okay, thanks. I have a packet of those o-rings that I bought for the dizzy when I rebuilt the engine.

I need help in turbo things.
If I want to turbo my ZE, what would I need?
I have a Garret T25 with an AR48 turbine housing and no exhaust housing.
I have the intercooler.
Except for the turbo mani, what else would I need to do it?
I am getting gatvol now of this supercharger taking up all the space in the engine bay.

You'll need to get a oil supply line for the turbo, usually taken from the oil pressure guage hole and running into a T to still have your oil pressure working.
Then you need an oil return welded into the sump and some rubber hose for that.
You already have the manifold covered, but you will also need a outlet flange and downpipe for the turbo.
Other than that you only need to change the boost pipes and a tune probably.

Last thing is to enjoy the extra 30kw at exactly the same boost pressure :thumb:

Things like dump valves and waste gates and so on?

It depends if you want to use internal or external wastegate if your going to buy one or not. The T25's normally have internal wastegates, which you can block off to use external, but ja it's your choice which you want to use. I trust external more though, because internal ones sometimes get boost creep.

I assumed you already have a dumpvalve on you motor, but forgot that it's probably the re-circulation valve I'm thinking about, that can be turned into a dump valve if you don't want to buy one now, simply connect it's pressure side to the boost pipe and leave to other side open and it functions like a normal dump valve. Obviously also connect the vacuum/boost signal to it as per normal.

I need some info here.

What is the advantages of a draw through system on a supercharger apposed to a blow through system?
If I would to put the throttle body after the supercharger with a blow off valve just like a turbo charger, will I lose power or break something?
This will make things much easier without pipers sucking closed and more space and a better sound with the blow off valve going pssst when letting off the throttle.

you can run the NA intake with the throttle after the charger & a dump valve...all it means is that on idle the dump valve will stay open but as soon as there is positive pressure then the dv will close & you'll have boost...no power loss what so ever.

PS: Happy New Year

Some sh*t again.

I feel like just pulling the motor out and put the A14 back.
The engine is in and everything in place, start the engine and it has this knocking sound.
It sounds like something turning and hitting a screw or something.
I have taken the SC and alternator of the crank pulley and still have the sound.
I checked the cams and nothing strange there. I did a pressure test and all the pistons are on 1500 kpa.

I really don't hope it is a bearing knock.
How do I diagnose a big end or conrod bearing knock?

If it's a big-end knock the sound will go harder and faster if you rev the engine up.

To diagnose which one has the knock, remove each of the spark plug wires in turns, when it goes quiet you know it's that piston that is knocking because it's not firing anymore and will be quiet.

I did that and the knock remains.
I pulled every plug lead one by one.

Then it's most probably not a bearing knock, but something else catching. you can also remove the plugs one by one and listen then, but it might be very noisy.

I think I am going to strip the whole front of the motor from covers and dust
plates, you name it.
Only going to put the crank pulleys and front pulley back and see if the knock remains.

It's been a while since the last update.
I took the cams out and refitted them and the knock was gone.
The fuel pump fell off the pipe into the tank, so I took the tank out and removed the pump.
I welded a bracket where the pump fits into.
I am going to fit it today.
Pictures will follow soon.
I still have to fit the hi-ace clutch master and fit the clutch thrust bearing I got from VinoG and find a T50 fork somewhere.

I have been doing some homework this past few weeks.
The Nissan Almera front calipers are very hard to find, and when you find then they are very over priced.

My girlfriend has a Hyundai Getz and without ABS when you just touch the brake your nose touches the steering wheel.

So here it goes.
The Nissan 1400 calipers has a 48mm piston
The Nissan Almera caliper has a 57mm piston
The Hyundai Getz caliper has a 54mm piston

So the 54mm piston is closer to the 48mm piston so it might be more suitable with the original 1400 master cylinder.

The Nissan 1400 has a 212mm solid disc.

The Nissan Almera disc specs are as follow:

Brake Disc Thickness (mm): 18.0
Brake Disc Type: Vented Disc
Centering Diameter (mm): 61.0
Fitting Position: Front Axle
Height (mm): 45.2
Minimum Thickness (mm): 16.0
Number of Bores: 2
Number of Holes: 4
Outer Diameter (mm): 247

The Hyundai Getz disc specs are as follow:

Brake Disc Thickness (mm): 19
Brake Disc Type: Vented Disc
Centering Diameter (mm): 62.2
Fitting Position: Front Axle
Height (mm): 48.0
Minimum Thickness (mm): 17
Number of Bores: 2
Number of Holes: 4
Outer Diameter (mm): 240.9

Now the question is. Will it be possible to use the Hyundai Getz caliper on the Nissan Almera disc?
The Hyundai Getz has a 4x100 PCD that will not fit the Nissan 1400's 4x114 PCD, but the Nissan Almera has the 4x114 PCD that will fit.
I went through every car that was ever manufactured's specs on discs and either the PCD or the outer diameter is out.
The Almera has the closest fit to the Hyunday calipers except for being 1mm thinner and 7mm more on the outer diameter.

So I can either drill new holes in the Hyundai Getz discs or machine the Almera discs down by 7mm or just leave the Almera disc 7mm on the inside and use it like that.
What is weird is that you get the 240.9mm disc for the Getz and a 255mm disc, but their calipers are the same and the pads are the same size.
So that means that the Almera disc of 247mm will work with these calipers.

Just make a bracket that spaces the caliper further outwards. If you cut the disk down, then you have to cut new ones every time you replace. The 1mm thinner won't make a difference, the pistons will just kick out that 1mm more and it'll brake again.

If you understand how hydraulics works, and I'm sure you do, then having a larger caliper piston, means it'll move less for more pedal travel. There hasn't been markable problems with any of the guys who have used the Almera calipers. But for quicker brake response you would want the smaller Hyundai one yes, but it'll have slightly less clamping force than the Almera one. I don;t think it would matter though as you're still stopping the same weight but with the larger almera disk and the larger Hyundai caliper, so you'll still be much better off anyway.

I think the Hyundai caliper will be a bunch cheaper and easier to find as well. I'd have liked to have had a strut still to see if I can make something up. Will see if I can find one somewhere and do something.
