Ok so this is a little project which I have been busy with for a while now.

I need to sort out my 20V rola as the engine is frot, as in uses 2-3 pints of oil per tank of fuel. Has been like this for more than 2 years after I made the mistake of running a 50/50 mix of 95 & tolls.

The easiest way would be to build a motor in my spare time so I can just swop over when I am ready.

So a while heard about a stroked 7AFE (1.8L) btm end that came of a turbo car that broke pistons. So I made a silly offer of R2.5k & it was accepted

The stock 7AFE has a bore of 81 & stroke of 85.5 giving it a swept volume of 1.76L.

Now as far as I understand this motor was stroked using Honda rods, my guess is B18 which has a big end that is 3mm smaller than the 7AFE, & by offset grinding the 7AFE crank journal to suit the Honda rod it gave a 3mm increase in stroke, which now measures 88.5 which I have just verified. So this takes the displacement up to 1.82L
Image

But hey why stop there, though my dealings on the forums I have managed to source myself a set of 2nd hand Nissan CA18DET 83mm pistons  this gives me a final swept volume of 1.92L

With the honda rods they now sit 0.5mm proud of the piston, don't they look at home :P

Image

The head it self is still stock, only re conned, but its also home to a few special goodies. The first is a set of some 2nd hand billet cams with a 292 (I think) Yoshi grind with more lift. And to keep them all from jumping out a new set of TODA valve springs.

If I leave the pistons 0.5mm proud & using a normal 1.2mm OEM gasket the cr works out to 12.47, if I deck the piston crowns so they are flush this takes the cr down to 11.77 with the additional benefit of making the pistons slightly lighter.

Anyway this might take a while still to complete but I will keep you updated as progress is made.

ja hey cylinder walls get a bit thin at those diameters....thats about the only thing that concerns me,but i will consider it for my drag car now with 100% epoxy fill in the block....i dont have a budget to blow a block at every event like the jordaans!although the results is awesome! :worship:
