Working principle remains the same irrespective of engine capacity!!

It's from a 2L sr20de fwd motor. Does it make a difference?

That's the one Rotor uses on his motors when he tunes, so exactly the right thing.

I shall owe you one for that...

Iirc GSR actually uses a similar principle.
sr20 knock sensor connected to earphones, just not so uitspatlik like the ones above.
I still need to make 1 so we can tune the timing on my brother's car.

I stand to be corrected but the knock sensors from the SR20det are the same they(Nissan) used on all their engines.. same way the knock sensors on a 1UZFE is the same as the ones on a 20v.

A knock sensor is nothing more than a Microphone designed to detect noise in a solid medium... But yeah, that does not explain why the Toyota sensors seem to change their behavior related to core temperature... They seem to work fine, while cold, but as soon as they get a bit of heat in them, they become completely erratic... I've tried every toy sensor I could lay my hands on, and they all behave the same...

I'm wondering if the VW sensors are the same as the Nissan ones, they certainly look the same. Guess I'll find out...

Can't only have a single wire, must have at least 2. True, if the VW one has 3 wires, then one of them is probably a 5V supply. Would be easy to modify his circuit to have a 5V output though.

yo moos, what you planning on tuning? everybody before me already said it but i thought i'd ma add my little bit as well! lol
should be okay!
we tuned faizels 20v with my wideband and had no issues, even got the starlet to drive after towing it to GP so im sure you won't monumentally phuck anything up, you are mos an old school DIY'er, building engines in your room and what what

another thing i wanted to mention, so the other guys can maybe comment, is that standard knock sensors, if you connect a multimeter and it detects knock then you'll notice a change in voltage or resistance? atleast thats what we figured, not sure if its 100% correct... anybody know about this?

the only problem i could think of doing it that way is knowing what is safe... comments?
