I can get a 2.0L Zetec motor, with wiring loom and ECU for R6000. Recently been overhauled (bearings, rings, valve stem seals). It sounds like a very good price.....

No I just need to figure out what gearbox would fit. As far as I understand, any old type Ford gearbox should fit?

Need to find someone that can confirm this 100% before I buy!

Was just reading up that it will work 100%!

Now to find a suitable box. The GF is insisting on a auto box.....

Their bolt patterns are the same. This includes Kent, CVH, Rocam and Zetec. If the Zetec is not the same as the Kent, then it WILL be the same as the 2.0 Pinto. The back of the bellhousings are all the same though, so you can simply bolt a Pinto bell onto a Kent box in most cases.

Whichever one of those motors you get, it'll be a straight bolt on or a simple bellhousing swap to get it to fit.

EDIT: Ford didn't have a very good imagination when it came to bolt patterns for their boxes and motors...

This makes it very nice that ford did this. Cause the Zetec motors are FWD and very little FWD motors have straight swop RWD gearboxes that fit.

In some cases, like the CVH and Zetec, even the heads and sumps are directly interchangeable...

Only problem I can see form here is the intake, I might need to make my own so the intake faces the front and not the rear as it would here when mounting it in RWD position.

The intake says 1.8l but its the 2.0l motor.

Well and there you already see it's mounted in a XR3 Escourt, which means it's most probably mounted on the CVH gearbox, which also fitted on the Kent motors....

That just looks like a plastic cover of some sort, you'd be able to build a front facing one easily.

That looks like a carb motor though?

Should be good, if it was really rebuilt...

Read through this thread.

On the fuel Consumption issue. I wander if it may work as some mechies has told me that on some motors they did a 1400 Nissan carb conversion on the motors and it was much lighter, I am not shure but it think they did that on masda engines even a 2l masda engine.Heck maybe even a golf carb will work ok.

Maybe the carb is to big as its a 36 which even way back as I was growing up people complained about them being heavy on fuel, as they used them on v6 motors.

Don't take my word for it as I am no mechy or expert on carbs. guys tell me if this theory is correct above?

Also maybe sell the two motors and go with a 1600 ford motor that is newer and maybe has fuel injection if u want to stay correct other wise there is plenty of options Toyota, masda, Nissan.

Keep in mind that the conversion on these motors will cost u a pretty penny

Cheers
