looks like the trumpet brought some good fortune

well my day started off very calmly....with some subtle launches(wanted to save the diff) just wanted to feel the cams as this was not tested since they were fitted......we just tuned and on the first run i snapped a shaft......so i was being very cautious!

first run saw me go 13's big time bog as i didnt use the launch control whole day.the fan belt was also very noisy, even after adjusting it....but that would come bite me later in the day

second run i went 11.3 similar launch but when she came onto boost she picked up the front end afetr the 60ft marker like a standing launch with launch control....i almost shat myself and backed out of it abit then floored it again....side ways all the way

next run i picked up the rpm abit to 4000rpm......very slight bog and then she let rip...sending me down the strip to a 10.4s pass

fourth run saw an even bigger bog than the 13s run but she kept straight and stable and did a 11.9 8)

then we had lunch.......fueled her up and did a quick oil change...checked the wheel studs and went for a run.

the next 2 runs saw me in the 10's......trying to back up the 10.4 with no launch control to just see some consistancy and actually see what works and what doesnt....i think its safe to say i'm done with launch control for now.its not a bad thing....its just not good for my car.power delivery is just violent for my setup and once the car unsettled she stays unsettled until you hit the brakes!

well i couldnt back up the 10.4 with those 2 runs.....was struggling with the rpm sweet spot.i was spoilt before i had launch control cos i would just rev in the limiter 8000rpm and dump the clutch so it was easy with the revs that high....then i went launch control and that makes things consistant, but when you had that and suddenly find yourself practising pedal control....well thats when it changes and you need your concentration 100% spot on!

so on the last run i decided to pick up the rpm to 5500.......proved a bit difficult as thats where she comes on cam,but i managed.....dumped the clutch....and fuck me,did i get a kick in the pants.....she carried out nicely, hooked up 2nd with a big time wheelie, hooked third picked up the front again.....went fourth and short shifted to fifth(now that was insane) and tapped about 15m from the traps(brake issues)

felt like an average run to me,,,,,but on the return road i saw something wasnt right....people were clapping and cheering then one of my sponsors came down and stopped me and showed me his hands through the window.....first all 10 fingers then 1 finger....so i'm thinking 11.00flat..... :wtf: they must have enjoyed the wheelie....i procceed further down to the start area and GTA gets me....opens the door and hands me my fan belt and tells me i just did a 10.1......by now i understand why the crowd is bezerk...i could almost feel a tear!

i wonder what the buyer that pulled out was thinking when that happened as he was there

i'm pretty sure my target time 9s will be seen soon....i just hope it comes before the new arrival cos then i can take a break in style

hers the vid of the 10.4 run....not the best.will see if i can better footage of some more runs when i go fetch the 10.1 clip :thumb:

the big thing here is that i did adjust it......but it looks one one of my bearings is my alty is stuffed......no noises or anything but its a bit stiff.....gonna sort that out......no the problem is,i need to know if i ran rich on that run due to voltage compensation.its a 140A alty and very good battery....varta blue(must confirm amp hour) so i doubt it would drain that quick....then again with 4 bosch 044 pumps and 2 MSD's it could have.....either way we will know at the next event :thumb:

   only noticed now....i edited this topic header 21 times already

well i have been assessing my previous runs....with some good feedback.

it seems me with my stupidity have been running my car in temp compensation for a while now.....my 10.1 run was the first time i ran the car out of compensation, well kind of...only half the run.and to make matters worse the run started in temp compensation aswell as voltage compensation due to the belt taking a hike pre launch.

i felt something happen in 3rd gear...like VVT kicking in.had a look at the gauges(yes in all that chaos) and noticed my temp gauge just on 60deg.well thats where temp compensation kicks out and your actual mapping takes over.....well from there on out the car went like crazy, but know you have to remember i was still running in voltage compensation which was still making the car run rich!

no i'm gonna ask the optimists.....is the 9 possible with a fan belt :?:
